Menches Smash Burger

The story of Menches began in 1885 at the Erie County Fair in Hamburg, New York. Two brothers, Frank and Charles Menches, were selling hot dogs at the fair that day when they ran out of sausage meat and were left without ingredients. A local butcher, Andrew Klein, refused to provide freshly butchered meat because of the hot weather and suggested using beef instead. They didn't give up. They blended coffee, brown sugar, and a few secret ingredients into the meat. The result was a flavor unlike anything anyone had tasted before. That day, they served the sandwich simply with ketchup and onions and named it after the town where it was created: 'Hamburger.' From that day on, the Menches Brothers became a legend. The original handwritten recipe remains preserved by the Menches family to this day. What began in 1885 is more than the story of a meal—it's a story of creativity, brotherhood, and craftsmanship. Menches continues to live by the same philosophy: Natural ingredients. Honest recipes. High standards. Exceptional service. One Hundred Thirty Years of Heritage in Every Bite.
